Clearing is a process managed by UCAS that gives students the opportunity to find a course at university if they haven’t managed to secure one.
If your child hasn’t yet applied to university, have changed their mind about a current course choice, or circumstances have changed, then Clearing can be used to find alternative courses to study for September 2017.
You can watch our 'Parents' guide to clearing' video below or visit our Clearing pages for more details.
It's never too early to start planning for Clearing
At De Montfort University (DMU), you don’t have to wait until A-level results day on Thursday 17 August; we’ll be accepting Clearing applications from 1 June for selected courses.
Your child can apply for a course through Clearing if:
- They're not holding any university offers, or haven't yet applied to university
- They have changed their mind about coming to university
- They have conditional offers, but exam results don’t go to plan, or your child is worried about the results they'll achieve
For full details and guidance on the Clearing process for your child, including courses and tariffs, accommodation details and experiences from students who have been through the clearing process, you can visit the DMU Clearing pages.
