The world-famous Blackpool Illuminations attract millions of visitors every autumn. The DMU Staff Social Committee has organised a coach trip for Saturday 21 October so you can enjoy this year’s fantastic light show too.
In a tradition that dates back to 1879, hundreds of illuminated festoons and tableaux brighten up Blackpool Promenade during September and October evenings. Now, this free seasonal attraction is even more spectacular with the addition of LightPool, where the Blackpool Tower building comes to life with light, colour and sound in a series of projected shows.
During the day you’ll be able to take in some of the town’s many other attractions. You can book a ride along the promenade on one of the art deco heritage trams, go to the iconic Blackpool Tower for stunning panoramic views and pay a visit to its renowned ballroom or circus.
The popular seaside resort also boasts a Sea Life centre and Madame Tussauds, and don’t forget the Pleasure Beach with its white-knuckle rollercoaster rides and entertaining arena events. Check the Visit Blackpool website for full details of what’s on (pre-booking may be advisable for some venues).
We will meet on Saturday 21 October at Trinity House by 9.45am for a 10am departure. The coach will leave Blackpool at 8pm, due to arrive back at 11.30pm-midnight. There will be service stops along the way.
Seats are priced at £15 each and you can book here.
You are welcome to bring friends or family members but please note that tickets can only be purchased by DMU employees and cannot be refunded once sold.
