We are committed to providing DMU students with an amazing experience by acting on their feedback wherever possible.

Our #loveDMU campaign, run in partnership with De Montfort Students' Union (DSU) aims to raise awareness of some of the positive changes we have made as a result of student feedback.

You can check out why we think you should #loveDMU below, as well as some faculty-specific reasons too.

Reasons to #loveDMU

  1. #DMUforlife is our new alumni brand which allows graduates to stay connected to the university after graduation. They will also have the benefit of #DMUglobal trips, #DMUworks support and access to a network of thousands of other DMU alumni.
  2. DMU has been named the first ever University of the Year for Social Inclusion by The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. DMU was chosen for its commitment to diversity, its teaching excellence and the success of its students in exams and graduate job prospects.
  3. The Employability Award, for all final-year undergraduate students which provides £100 towards the costs of securing employment.
  4. DMU is a university ranked Gold in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the only Government-endorsed measure of teaching quality in higher education.
  5. Bursaries to support successful #DMUglobal participants, with £150 to European destinations, and £400 for international destinations
  6. Through #DMUglobal we have sent more than 10,000 students overseas to more than 65 countries.
  7. DMU Replay provides easily accessible content from academic sessions available to students - this means that students can revise taught material in the way which suits them best.
  8. The library is open 24/7 and 365 days a year other than in exceptional circumstances
  9. All four faculties reduced the burden of assessments for all students during the current academic year and beyond following a comprehensive review of all courses and modules. This amounts to an average reduction of 25 per cent to assessments across the board.
  10. 21,000 re-useable mugs have so far been distributed to staff and students, to help remove single use plastic across campus.

De Montfort Students' Union (DSU):

  1. Campaigned for a reduction in printing fees of up to 80 per cent, saving students almost £200,000 in 2017/18
  2. Worked with the university to give greater transparency on how students’ fees are spent at DMU
  3. Successfully lobbied for the implementation of exam feedback to further improve the learning experience
