Executive, Governance and Legal Services
Executive, Governance and Legal Services (EGLS) is a small, professional service based in the historic Trinity House building. The department is comprised of four interlinking teams:
The Executive Services team works closely together to provide support to key members of the Executive Board, the Vice-Chancellor, and the Chancellor, in carrying out their corporate and public functions. The team also manages the operations of Trinity House as a venue for meetings, exhibitions and activities.
This service is managed by Sally Finlinson, Executive Services Operation Manager.

The Clerk’s Office manages the functioning of the Board of Governors and its sub-committees, and is responsible for ensuring that the university complies with standards of best practice in corporate governance. In addition, the Clerk’s Office oversees the production of the university almanac, which provides details of the university’s structure, senior members of staff, and a formal list of committees.
The Clerk to the Board of Governors is Sam Weston.

The Legal Services team deals with a wide-range of legal and commercial matters on behalf of the university. The team works closely with specialists across the institution to advise on legal and commercial matters, assist in the development and implementation of university policies and procedures, and to facilitate the signing of contracts and deeds.
Legal Services is comprised of a small team of qualified solicitors and is led by Anthony Heath, Head of Legal Services.

Commercial Development Unit
The Commercial Development Unit is responsible for managing the most complex and significant organisational change and effectiveness activities undertaken by the university. With a remit to consolidate and enhance the university’s commercial success, the team is involved at each and every stage of change programmes from defining scope through to implementation.
The team is made up of practitioners possessing formal international qualifications in Change Management, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), and PRINCE2. The service is led by Mark Nicoll, Head of Commercial Development.
