Partnerships with industry
As a dynamic institution with a diverse range of courses and research interests, De Montfort University (DMU) works with some of the biggest names in a number of fields.
We are proud of the excellent work we do with our partners, which benefits our students, staff and members of the public.
Our strong links with industry have enabled DMU graduates to help Leicester match London for new business success, according to influential magazine, The Economist.
From collaborations on courses with organisations such as the BBC and the NHS, to sponsorship of our cutting edge facilities by companies like Orange, thanks to our partners students enjoy an education that is closely tied to industry practice.
An exciting new development is our partnership with one of the world’s biggest and most respected IT companies, Hewlett-Packard (HP).
As a result of this agreement DMU will host industry experts, carry out research into some of the most pressing issues affecting the IT sector and work on innovative new ways to make the most of existing technology.
An HP Academy will also be based at the university, bringing with it many advantages and opportunities.
DMU is renowned for the quality and breadth of its research, and much of our work is done in conjunction with industry partners.
For example, the multi-million pound Simulation of Upset Recovery in Aviation (SUPRA) project, in which DMU is a partner, sees academics from across Europe working with Boeing Research and Technology Europe and TNO Defence, Security and Safety.
A unique skin cancer detection tool that could help the earlier detection of malignant melanoma is being developed by DMU and the NHS. The £75,000 project is being carried out in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust's Dermatology Department.
